Blimey, that is truly frightening.

I refuse them whenever possible. The ones I end up with I reuse as often as possible.
I really do wish that the government would tax them like the Irish did.

Or buy a string one from the lovely organic alley (tag carrier bag) and reuse forever. Thanks for signing the petition - I think I will give that another push.

I re use as often as poss, but I feel guilty for lining bins with them. Any suggestions? They say for every thousand bags 2 litres of oil is used.

Yep those one use carriers are made from oil - the next time people complain about a petrol increase perhaps they should think how much they throw away each day in the form of plastic packaging.

Like you I used to use carrier bags to line my bin but that just means more non biodegradable rubbish in landfill and what would have biodegraded now cant because it is wrapped in plastic.

I now compost, recycle and reject excess packaging. what is left goes in a bin with a washable plastic liner and tip my rubbish directly into my black bin. For details go to the tag bin liners

I use reusable string carrier bags and cotton produce bags - for details go to the tag carrier bags

Thanks for those ideas. I do all of the above as much as poss. Just don't like loads of loose rubbish in my wheely bin. I suppose I could live with it if it didn't get too smelly.
