Plastic packaging is a dirty, expensive, possibly carcinogenic, profligate use of the worlds resources resulting in a revolting scurf of permanent, non-biodegradable debris. My personal solution is to boycott plastic nastiness and each month I will ban a piece of plastic from my life. This is my 12 step programme for cleaner world.

One has to look how we shopped less than 30 years ago for the answer. Most of us shopped daily with a shopping basket. There wasn't monthly shopping like we do today where we are intent in buying everything in the shop, and using 10 or so plastic bags to get it home.
If you had more than a basket full of shopping there was always the cardboard boxes by the till that the kind shop keeper put by. Another problem with our style of shopping now is that buying the amounts we do each week at least a quarter of it is thrown away as gone off or out of date. We as wasterals, I remember a joint of week lasting most of a week, being re-invented as a stew or caserole. Maybe we have more money than sense.

I think so and it seems a shame that we have forgottonthe thriftY vitues of the past. Recycling for my Grandparents wasnt a buzzword but a way of life. And I know it is difficult with working mum, long hours and the closing of local shops. But even if the supermarket run is a necessary, the excessive packaging of veges or "free" carriers bags are not.

although I have been trying in a rather halfhearted way to rid the world of plastic, I feel after seeing your blog that I have achieved litle, and so I am going to get a milkman as my first positive step.
